This Is For You Mom!

My dear mom contracted a rare disease called Gillian Barre Syndrom (GBS) that made her feet, legs, and hands start to go numb around the end of April. We were first worried that it could be M.S. She continued to get weaker and eventually lost her ability to walk. Dad, Mom, and their doctor were impressed to take her to the U. of U. Hospital in Salt Lake. We were all so relieved that it wasn't M.S. and that GBS is a treatable disease that most patients totally recover from. After about 10 days she went home and was doing a lot better and walking with a walker. She was only home for a few days when her strength began to weaken again and she was soon back in the hospital. They gave her a few more treatments and sent her home again. Dad has been at her side as much as he possible and has been a wonderful caretaker for her. It has been great to see how much love and care he has for her. Well, after the second trip to the hospital her symptoms continued to get worse and they took her back to the U for the third time. They gave her a different treatment that totally filtered out all the plasma that was in her body and replaced it with new plasma. So far she has been responding wonderfully and regaining her strength back slowly but surely. We are all so grateful for medical technology, the power of the priesthood, and for fasting and prayers. We have realized just how much our mom means to us and are so grateful for all that she does for us. You can do it MOM! We LOVE you!

Mom at the Gateway during her third stay at the U. of U. Hospital. The doctors actually encourage her to get our occasionally to keep her spirits up. I got to go up there and stay over with her. It was a special time for the two us. My Aunt Susie also got to stay with her a night.

Jenny I had no idea your mom was going through such a trial! Go Susie you can do it! She is so young and a go getter! she can beat it! Look how cute she is! Your house looks so nice! I want to see what your mom tells you to do with the room! That is a tricky shape and your Mom is such a great decorator! My thoughts and prayers are with your mom!
